Microgaming is one of the few casino names where we still start with older games. Immortal Romance and Thunderstruck II have been around for years, while Mega Moolah remains closely connected with progressive jackpots. New games have appeared as well, but we would not ignore the originals simply because something newer is available. On this page, we look at where Canadians can find Microgaming games, which slots we would search for first, how the bonuses and jackpots work, and what we check before playing for real money.
Microgaming Casinos We Recommend
We kept the list to three casinos. Beef, X3bet and Spinfin all have Microgaming games, and each has already been through our normal SCC review process.
| Casino | SCC Rating | What We Found | Min. Deposit |
| Beef Casino | 4/5 | Microgaming games available | $20 |
| X3bet Casino | 4/5 | Microgaming among 45+ providers | $20 |
| Spinfin Casino | 4/5 | Gold Blitz found in the lobby | $20 |
These ratings come directly from our individual casino reviews. We do not add points because one casino has more Microgaming games than another. The rating covers the casino as a whole.

Beef Casino
Beef starts at $20, with Interac deposits from $20 to $3,000. Microgaming is available alongside NetEnt, Pragmatic Play, BGaming, Yggdrasil, Hacksaw Gaming and other providers, so there is plenty to play outside one developer.
The bonus rules are more interesting to us than the number of providers. Qualifying slots contribute 100% towards wagering, while live casino and card/table games contribute 5%. If $3,000 of wagering remains, a qualifying slot can complete it with $3,000 in bets. At 5%, it would take $60,000 in bets to make the same progress.
The welcome package reaches $900 + 600 Free Spins, with a $10 maximum bet during wagering. Beef has an overall SCC rating of 4/5. Our full Beef casino review covers the payments, bonus terms and account conditions separately.
X3bet Casino
X3bet has Microgaming among 45+ providers and combines casino games with sports betting under the same account. Interac deposits range from $20 to $3,000, while Skrill and Neteller showed maximum deposits up to $16,075 when we checked the cashier.
The welcome package reaches $1,800 + 250 Free Spins across two deposits. Wagering is 35x deposit + bonus, Free Spins winnings have a 40x requirement, and the offer lasts 10 days. Maximum winnings are limited to 6x the bonus amount.
There is one point we could not clear up during our review. We could not independently confirm all current operator, regulator and licence details from the Canadian-facing pages we checked. That matters more to our rating than adding another 20 or 30 games from a recognised provider. X3bet is rated 4/5 in our full X3bet casino review.
Spinfin Casino
Spinfin gave us something more useful than a provider logo. We found Gold Blitz by Microgaming in the casino lobby during our review. The casino has more than 4,000 games, and nine different studios appeared in our sample of ten popular slots.
Its welcome package reaches 350% up to $15,000 + 500 Free Spins, but the 30x deposit + bonus wagering rule deserves more attention than the headline amount. Deposit $100 and receive $100, and the $200 total leaves $6,000 to wager.
Withdrawal limits also change considerably with VIP level. They start at $10,500 per month at Level 1 and reach $30,000 at Level 5. We could not independently confirm all current operator, regulator and licence details from the Canadian-facing pages checked. Spinfin scored 3/5 for Security & Transparency and 4/5 overall in our Spinfin casino review.
How We Choose Casinos for This List
We start in the game lobby. A Microgaming logo on a provider page is not enough for us to assume that a casino still has the games people are looking for. Spinfin gave us the clearest example because we found Gold Blitz while reviewing the casino.
After that, we check the casino itself: who runs it, the licence information available to players, CAD payments, withdrawal limits, KYC requirements and bonus terms. Beef, X3bet and Spinfin all have the same 4/5 SCC rating, but their account conditions are far from identical.
We also check individual games where possible. A casino can have Microgaming without having Immortal Romance or Thunderstruck II. If one particular slot is the reason for registering, we would search for that game before depositing.
SlotCasinoCanada.ca Editor’s Note: “A provider logo gets our attention, but an actual game in the lobby tells us more. If we are looking for Immortal Romance, we want to find Immortal Romance, not just the Microgaming name.”
What Happened to Microgaming?
A lot changed for Microgaming in 2022. Games Global took over the distribution of its games, along with the Mega Moolah jackpot network. Games Global started with more than 3,000 games and jackpot titles, including games from other studios, so not everything under the Games Global name should be called Microgaming.
Microgaming also needs some explanation when we compare casino software providers. Immortal Romance and Thunderstruck II are Microgaming games, but a newer game from another Games Global studio is not automatically a Microgaming game. Games Global works with dozens of studios, so we check the developer of the individual game instead of putting the Microgaming name on everything it distributes.
The older games did not disappear. Immortal Romance, Thunderstruck and Mega Moolah are still available in different forms, while newer games have continued the same names. For this page, we keep the distinction simple and judge the individual game rather than putting the Microgaming label on everything Games Global distributes.
Microgaming Casino Games
The age range is one of the things we like about these games. Put Thunderstruck II beside Immortal Romance II or Thunderstruck FlyX and they clearly come from different periods of online casino development.
Thunderstruck goes back particularly far. The original appeared in 2003, and Thunderstruck II later expanded the idea with several bonus modes and saved progression. The name has since been used for other slots and eventually a crash game.
Immortal Romance followed a similar path. The original built its bonus around Amber, Troy, Michael and Sarah. Those same characters returned in Immortal Romance II twelve years later rather than being replaced with an unrelated theme.
For us, counting every game is less useful than finding the ones that are still worth opening.
The Games We Would Actually Search For
If we opened a casino carrying Microgaming today, five games would be at the top of our search list:
- Immortal Romance comes first. Its age is visible, but the Chamber of Spins has held up better than the graphics. Amber, Troy, Michael and Sarah have different Free Spins features, while Wild Desire can turn as many as five reels wild.
- Thunderstruck II would be next. We are more interested in the Great Hall of Spins than the base game itself. Unlocking different bonus modes gives the game more progression than a slot built around one repeated Free Spins feature.
- Mega Moolah makes the list for another reason entirely. We would not choose it over Immortal Romance for the base game. The jackpot is the attraction. Mega Moolah launched in 2006, and Games Global reported that it had paid more than €700 million over its first 17 years.
- Break Away is much simpler, which is precisely why we would keep it on the list. Not every game needs several bonus menus, progression systems or a jackpot attached to it.
- Our fifth choice is Immortal Romance II. We would play it after the original, not instead of it. Seeing what changed after twelve years is more interesting when the first game is already familiar.
Microgaming Online Slots
There is a noticeable difference between the older and newer games. Earlier slots tend to have simpler screens and fewer features competing for attention. Later releases add more progression, jackpots and extra mechanics.
Older does not automatically mean better. Some games have aged much better than others. We would rather judge them by the bonus mechanics and how they play now than give every old Microgaming slot a “classic” label.
This is also why our list mixes different generations rather than simply ranking the latest releases.
Best Microgaming Slots to Play
| Game | Type | Why We Picked It |
| Immortal Romance | Slot | Four character-based Free Spins features |
| Thunderstruck II | Slot | Great Hall of Spins and progression |
| Mega Moolah | Progressive slot | Four-tier jackpot |
| Break Da Bank Again | Slot | Older Microgaming gameplay |
| Break Away | Slot | Simpler sports-themed slot |
| Avalon II | Slot | Fantasy theme and bonus features |
| Immortal Romance II | Slot | Sequel to the original |
| Immortal Romance Mega Moolah | Progressive slot | Immortal Romance with Mega Moolah |
| Thunderstruck Wild Lightning Mega Moolah | Progressive slot | Thunderstruck with Mega Moolah |
| Thunderstruck FlyX | Crash game | Thunderstruck adapted to crash play |
The list is intentionally not dominated by recent games. If someone searches for Microgaming by name, leaving out Immortal Romance, Thunderstruck II or Mega Moolah would make little sense.
Immortal Romance vs Immortal Romance II
There are 12 years between the two games. The sequel brings back Amber, Troy, Michael and Sarah, along with four separate Free Spins features and Wild Desire. It also adds Bloodline progression and changes how Wild Desire works.
| Feature | Immortal Romance | Immortal Romance II |
| Characters | Amber, Troy, Michael, Sarah | Same four characters |
| Free Spins | Four character features | Four character features |
| Wild Desire | Yes | Updated version |
| Progression | Original unlock structure | Bloodline |
| Look | Clearly older | Modernised |
| Why We Play It | Original game | Compare the changes |
We would still start with Immortal Romance. The Chamber of Spins explains a lot about why the game lasted. Jumping directly into the sequel means missing that comparison.
Immortal Romance II does more than redraw the original. Bloodline rewards spin milestones, and Wild Desire can now use 1,024 ways with an additional multiplier. The four character-based Free Spins remain.
That combination is what we like about the sequel. Enough changed to justify another game, but the parts we remember from Immortal Romance were not thrown away.
What We Check Before Playing an Older Slot
We start with RTP. We use the percentage displayed in the current game rather than assuming that an RTP figure published years ago still applies to the version we have opened.
Then we check the interface. A basic 5 reel game is usually straightforward on a phone, while a slot with progression meters and several bonus menus deserves a closer look on a smaller screen.
Bonus eligibility is another check. Finding Immortal Romance in the lobby does not mean every bet automatically counts towards wagering. The casino decides which games qualify and how much they contribute.
For Mega Moolah and other progressive games, we also open the jackpot rules before playing for real money.
Live Casino Games
We would not choose a casino for Microgaming live games. Slots and jackpots are the stronger reason to look for Microgaming, while current casinos normally use other studios for live blackjack, roulette and baccarat.
That is not a problem at a multi-provider casino. The live tables and slots do not need to come from the same developer, and the player still uses the same casino account and balance.
Other Casino Games
Some of the older game names now appear outside normal slots. Games Global lists Immortal Romance Video Bingo and Thunderstruck II Video Bingo, developed by Neko Games.
Thunderstruck FlyX takes another route and turns Thunderstruck into a crash game. This is why we check who actually made the game instead of calling everything connected with an old Microgaming name a Microgaming release.
RTP: What to Check Before You Play
There is no single RTP that applies to all Microgaming games. The percentage needs to be checked for the individual game, and some games may be available with different RTP settings.
A 96% RTP does not mean $100 deposited should return $96 during one session. The percentage works over a very large number of bets. One short session can finish well above or below it.
We check the information screen inside the game. That gives us the figure for the version being played rather than an RTP copied from an old review.
Microgaming Jackpot Games
Mega Moolah is still the first game we associate with Microgaming jackpots. The original has four progressive jackpot levels, and Games Global reported more than €700 million paid through Mega Moolah during its first 17 years.
The jackpot is no longer limited to the original safari game. Immortal Romance Mega Moolah is part of the current selection, and other games also use the Mega Moolah jackpots.
This gives us a choice we did not have with the original game. Someone who already likes Immortal Romance can play a version connected to Mega Moolah rather than switching to a completely different slot.
Slot Casino Canada Editor’s Note: “We would never rank Mega Moolah above Immortal Romance because of the base game. We play Mega Moolah for the jackpot. Without that jackpot, our order would be very different.”
How Progressive Jackpots Work
A progressive jackpot can increase as qualifying bets are made across participating games and casinos. The prize is therefore not limited to the money wagered at one casino.
We do not guess what percentage of each bet goes towards the jackpot. That information needs to come from the rules of the game.
Bonus treatment should be checked separately as well. A casino can allow a jackpot game for cash play but exclude it from bonus wagering or give it a lower contribution percentage.
Free Games and Demo Play
Demo mode is useful with games such as Immortal Romance and Thunderstruck II because their bonus features make more sense once the game has been opened.
A few free sessions can show how the Chamber of Spins works or how the Great Hall of Spins is structured without risking a cash balance. That is a better use of demo mode than trying to judge whether a game is “lucky”.
Free play cannot tell us anything about the casino’s withdrawals, KYC process or bonus handling. A large virtual win remains a virtual win.
Playing on Mobile
We consider mobile play a basic requirement. The more useful question is how a particular game feels on a phone.
Simple slots normally translate well to a smaller screen. Games with progression meters, multiple bonus menus or extra controls need more attention. An older release can still work perfectly well, but we prefer opening the game ourselves rather than trusting a generic mobile badge.
The same casino account and balance should remain available when switching between desktop and mobile.
Microgaming Casino Bonuses
Microgaming does not set the wagering rules at Beef, X3bet or Spinfin. The casino decides the wagering requirement, game contribution, maximum bet and expiry period.
Beef provides a useful example. Qualifying slots contribute 100%, while certain live casino and card/table games contribute 5%.
| Game Contribution | Bets Needed for $3,000 Wagering Progress |
| 100% | $3,000 |
| 50% | $6,000 |
| 20% | $15,000 |
| 10% | $30,000 |
| 5% | $60,000 |
Spinfin uses 30x deposit + bonus. A $100 deposit plus a $100 bonus gives $200 for the calculation, leaving $6,000 to wager.
X3bet uses 35x deposit + bonus, while Free Spins winnings have a 40x wagering requirement.
These numbers tell us much more than the headline bonus amount. Before using a Microgaming slot with bonus money, we check whether it qualifies, how much it contributes and the maximum bet allowed.
Are These Casinos Safe in Canada?
We separate the game developer from the casino holding the player’s balance. Microgaming does not approve withdrawals, ask for KYC documents or set account limits.
We ran into this issue with X3bet and Spinfin. In both reviews, we could not independently confirm all current operator, regulator and licence details from the Canadian-facing information we checked. Spinfin received 3/5 for Security & Transparency, despite its 4/5 overall SCC rating.
Account limits matter too. Spinfin’s monthly withdrawal ceiling starts at $10,500 at VIP Level 1 and reaches $30,000 at Level 5. X3bet showed large differences between payment methods, with Interac deposits capped at $3,000 while Skrill and Neteller reached $16,075 when checked.
Ontario should also be treated separately from the rest of Canada. Players there need to check whether the casino is authorized for the Ontario market rather than assuming that general Canadian availability applies.
Microgaming vs Other Casino Software Providers
A current casino rarely depends on one developer. Microgaming games normally sit beside slots and tables from NetEnt, Pragmatic Play, Evolution and many smaller studios.
| Provider | Games or Category We Would Look For |
| Microgaming | Immortal Romance, Thunderstruck II, Mega Moolah |
| NetEnt | Starburst, Gonzo’s Quest |
| Pragmatic Play | Slots and live games |
| Evolution | Live blackjack, roulette, baccarat and game shows |
We prefer comparing actual games rather than provider logos. Someone looking for Immortal Romance needs a casino that has Immortal Romance. A player looking for Starburst needs NetEnt instead. Our NetEnt Casinos and Pragmatic Play Casinos pages cover those providers separately.
For live casinos, we would look at Evolution independently. Microgaming does not need to be the best option for every type of casino game to remain relevant for slots.
Is One Game Provider Enough to Choose a Casino?
Microgaming can put a casino on our shortlist. It would not be enough to make us open an account.
Take Beef. Its $20 minimum deposit and bonus contribution rules directly affect how the account can be used. With $3,000 left to wager, a qualifying slot at 100% contribution requires $3,000 in bets. At 5%, the same progress would require $60,000. We care much more about that difference than whether another ten Microgaming games are available.
Spinfin makes the same point differently. We found Gold Blitz by Microgaming, but the casino has 4,000+ games and nine studios appeared in our ten-game sample. Microgaming is one part of that casino, not a reason to ignore everything else.
X3bet has more than 45 providers, but that did not answer our questions about the operator and licence information. Adding another 20 providers would not answer them either.
Our rule is simple: we use Microgaming to find games. We use the operator, licence, payments, KYC rules, bonuses and withdrawals to judge the casino.
Our Verdict
Microgaming is still worth searching for because some of its older games remain worth playing. We would start with Immortal Romance and Thunderstruck II, choose Mega Moolah for the jackpot, and then try Immortal Romance II to see what changed after the original.
Beef, X3bet and Spinfin are all rated 4/5 by SCC, but the provider is only the first filter. Once we find the game we want, deposit limits, bonus terms, withdrawals and licensing information become more important.
FAQs
It is an online casino where Microgaming games are available. Most current casinos use several developers, so Microgaming normally makes up only part of the game lobby.
Yes. Beef, X3bet and Spinfin are three Canadian-facing casinos where Microgaming games are available. Each currently has a 4/5 rating in its individual SCC review.
Games Global took over the distribution of Microgaming games and the Mega Moolah jackpot network in 2022. Games Global also works with many other studios, so not every game it distributes is a Microgaming game.
We would start with Immortal Romance and Thunderstruck II. Mega Moolah is our main choice for progressive jackpots, while Break Away and Break Da Bank Again show the simpler side of the older games.
Many are. We recommend checking the individual game, especially older releases with larger bonus menus or progression features.
The Microgaming name alone does not tell us whether a casino is safe. We separately check the operator, licence, KYC requirements, payments, withdrawal rules and responsible gambling controls.
